The dash bezel restoration for original 1964's or 1965's is the same process. We
decided on this 64 so we can show how the dash can be cut for A/C. First, the dash is stripped of its original chrome and paint, and then sent out for chrome plating. ![]() Once the dash is chromed, we normally start the detail process, but the customer suddenly decided to install factory air in his Chevelle so we start off with cutting the hole for the A/C vent. The best way to convert the dash to accept the factory A/C vent is if it has the three mounting studs on the back. Some bezels don't have these studs which makes it slightly more difficult. A factory vent is used to get the correct measurements, a starter hole is cut, and the hole is carefully sanded large enough to allow the vent to fit snugly in place. ![]() The entire dash is masked off and sprayed the correct color of silver around the sides. ![]() Then, the gauge and switch holes are masked off and sprayed black. ![]() The letters are painted, and the dash receives its final clean up detail. ![]() Here it is, ready for shipping.
