New Items
This month we’d like to introduce some more new products. For many years Chevelle and El Camino owners have had to deal with a replacement floor pan that fits all 1964-1972s even though 64-67 is quite a bit different than 68-72. They just kind of melded the two into one, so it really fits neither style. Fortunately the sheet metal manufacturers have recently begun producing factory correct floor pans. The 64-67 floor pans even have the threaded holes in the toe board for the gas pedal and the straps for the front to rear tape harness. These pans come in a full length left and right section going from a few inches above the toe in the front, to the upper edge just before it goes under the rear seat. The width of these pans is the really great thing, in the past the panels only went part way into the center hump but the new pans now meet in the middle to include the entire hump which is great if someone has hacked out the hump for some goofy shifter. If you are working on a really rusty piece, Dynacorn has the replacement panels for under the rear seat. These panels are left and right sections, although you can find 68-72s as a full section, and meet up where the front to rear floors leave off, curve under the rear seat, and continue up to the ledge of the differential housing. Another option in great rust repair panels, coming from Dynacorn, is the entire replacement floor for 1968-1972. This floor pan is one entire piece just like factory so there is no seam in the middle to weld up. This panel runs from the factory seam just before the toe board all the way to the upper edge in front of the rear seat. This full floor even comes with the seat belt bolt holes already drilled and the factory style bucket seat mount brackets already installed. With bucket seats being one of the most popular options and with our beloved Chevelles and El Caminos getting on in years we find that many buckets seats are rusted beyond repair. To cure this rust predicament Dynacorn has also recently released bucket seat frame assemblies for 1966-1968 and 1969-1972. The last item of interest we’d like to discuss is the reproduction bodies. In case you haven’t heard, Dynacorn is working on a line of entire bodies which at the time of this writing they have secured the licensing for the 69 Camaro body and are currently available. This is great news since the Chevelle bodies will not be too far behind with the 70 Chevelle Convertible to be the first due out in about a year. So we won’t have to fight the battle of piecing together a rusted out hulk anymore, just buy a new body and bolt everything else on. Due to these bodies, there will be plenty of new reproductions coming out in the next few years and the existing reproductions should be getting better since some of the manufacturers have been convinced that customers will spend a little more for a superior product. Don’t miss next month when we have a tribute to 1965 L-79s. |
